Six to Little 500
Hall of Fame in '08

Six well-known Little 500 personalities are slated for induction into the Little
500 Hall of Fame here on Saturday, May 24, part of “Little 500 Week” in
Anderson.
From the historic era (1948 to 1975)
are Clarence Miller, Carl Reynolds, and Walt Straber, while from the modern era
comes Denny Adams, Ken de la Bastide, and Eric Gordon.

Waves for Livesay, Saxon, McElfresh and Riddle
Anderson Speedway returned to racing action on Saturday, May 10. Grenefield’s
Mark Livesay recorded his first career Ed Martin Chevrolet SuperTrucks feature
while Jeff Saxon scored a second consecutive Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro
Division feature win. Elwood’s Jake McElfresh became the second first time
winner of the evening after claiming top honors in the Street Stocks. Former
champion Mike Riddle Jr. added another victory to his career with capturing the
ImmediaDent Figure 8 feature.

Poore, Johnson,
Saxon and Hinton Win On Saturday Night
The World’s Fastest High Banked
Quarter Mile heated up a chilly Saturday night as Josh Poore won the Ed Martin
Chevrolet SuperTrucks feature, Jeremy Johnson captured the Newco Metals Legends
main event, Jeff Saxon earned the Quick Auto Front Wheel Drive Pro and Ranny
Hinton scored the ImmediaDent Figure 8’s 25-lap feature.
Josh Poore won the Ed Martin Chevrolet SuperTruck feature, being the first event
on the bill. Jerry Faucet led the first 25 laps with Ronnie Rose, Poore, and
Smokin’ Joe Beaver running nose to tail as the top four. Poore took the lead
five laps later and opened up a sizable lead on his way to the win. Beaver made
his way up to second, Jerry Faucet wound up third, Ronnie Rose finished fourth
and Mark Livesay took fifth.

Thrilling Night of
Thrills on Saturday
Always billed as on the of the most entertaining events of the season at
Anderson Speedway, the Night of Thrills presented by The Herald Bulletin, didn’t
disappoint the thousands of fans that turned out on Saturday, April 26. The
feature events included School Bus Figure 8’s, Trailer Race, Cork Screw Race,
Newco Metals Legends and the Roll Over Contest.
The women took to the track first in the Powder Puff Front Wheel Drive feature,
with Rhonda Carr running away with the win. Carr ran up front all night, with
Carrie Gibson running a distant second. Dixie Rumler ran third, and Janeen
Dulworth coming in fourth.

The Tradition
Continues With The 60th Pay Less Little 500 on Saturday, May 24

A record number of drivers are
expected to compete for the largest purse ever in the 60th Pay Less Little 500
at Anderson Speedway on Saturday Night, May 24. Over $123,000 will be up for
grabs in the richest asphalt Sprint Car race in the country.
Several former winners have pre-entered for the event including Eric Gordon, who
has won five of the last six events. Other previous champions that have filed
entries include defending race winners Brian Tyler, Dave Steele and three-time
Pay Less Little 500 champion Jeff Bloom. Local driver Aaron Pierce is also
expected to enter the prestigious event.
