Updated Sprint Car Rule

Technical Bulletin 2022 – 1

Little 500/500 Sprint Car Tour

Effective Date: April 29, 2022

We have received numerous questions from teams relating to ignition systems. Upon further review, it has been determined that an ignition system in use by some teams is outside the intended goals of non-wing pavement sprint car racing. We understand this directive comes within a month of Little 500.

Updated Rule 13.1.2 A-F:

Ignitions

a.     All cars must be equipped with one (1) ignition kill switch or emergency shut off located within easy reach of the driver.

b.     Electronically controlled fuel injection systems shall not be permitted.

c.     A magneto style ignition or MSD style ignition are permitted.

d.     The use of any data collection device is not permitted. One (1) switch that alternates the current between the magneto and the crank trigger may be mounted to the dash within drivers reach.

e.     All ignition system components, including but not limited to electronics, parts, control box may be inspected, sealed, or confiscated at any time.

f.      Ignition control boxes may be required to be removed and replaced with a provided 500 Sprint Car Tour control box at any time.
