Anderson,IN-- Local poets Abby and Hanna Wilson 15, won Walker Music Groups Poem of the Month for April for their poem "Little 500 Race" which is a poem written about the Little 500 Race ran each year at Anderson Speedway. Their poem was set to music and read by Jamey Denison and can be heard here. Their poem "Racing Legend" was dedicated to their favorite driver Ken Schrader and was runner up in the Walker Music Group Poem of the Month for 2023 both poems are in a Poetry book called Bards Against Hunger Indiana: An Anthology of Indiana poets. You can still purchase the book on amazon.com. All the streaming royalties from the song poem go to the American Cancer Society from April 15-30.

A marker honoring Tony Elliott, a two-time USAC National Sprint Car Series champion and Little 500 Legend who died in a plane crash in 2015, will be unveiled on the IndyCar stage at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 8, the opening day of the the annual Performance Racing Industry trade show at the Indiana Convention Center. In spring 2017, the marker will be installed in Warsaw. The unveiling is open to the public.

Anderson Speedway officials have canceled Opening Night scheduled for Saturday, March 25 due to the forecast of rain all night long. Anderson Speedway’s 70th Season will open on Saturday, April 1 with Late Models, Marcums Welding Front Wheel Drives, Thunder Roadsters and Hart’s Auto Figure 8.
