It was a good night for three drivers with close ties to Anderson Speedway on opening night for their touring series'. There were a total of 99 cars in the pit area for O’Reilly Auto Parts Night. Jeff Marcum is no stranger to Riley & Sons Collision Victory Lane and led 74 of the 75 laps in the Champion Racing Association’s Late Model Sportsman feature event. Paige Rogers led the opening lap of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 75 with Marcum taking the point with a traditional inside pass entering turn three. Marcum had to hold off challengers Ronnie Rose, Tommy Cook and James Kirby through eight restarts. With Marcum out front fans were treated to intense racing for the second spot with Rose, Cook, Kirby and fast qualifier Billy Hutson swapping spots on every restart. Kirby finished second followed by Rose, Cook and Hutson.

Anderson, IN … Forecasted rain and possible storms have prompted Anderson Speedway officials to postpone this weekend’s racing action. Nearly every weather resource available is predicting poor weather conditions Saturday afternoon and evening, with possible thunderstorms for the area.

Salem, IN (April 6, 2021) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS is set to kick off it’s 25th Anniversary Season this Saturday in the $5,000 to win Mitch Smith Auto Service 125 Presented by Perfecto Tool at Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, Indiana. Anderson Speedway is where the CRA and the series had its first ever event on Saturday, April 26, 1997, where two time series Champion Brian Ross scored the inaugural series win against a stacked field of drivers that included Gary St. Amant, Brian Rievley, Bill Baird, Jim Cooper, Rick Rhonemus, Rick Turner, Don Bickford, Bobby Blount, Kenny Tweedy, JR Roahrig, Bull Baker, Scott Neal, Jim Crabtree Jr. and Ray Skillman.

When the three front runners in the Thunder Roadster feature were eliminated it was Austin Cory scoring his first career win. Anderson Speedway kicked off the 74th year of racing action with two first time winners on Saturday.

The year was 1947 when Joe Helpling opened what was then known as Sun Valley Speedway to bring auto racing to Anderson. That racing tradition continues in 2021.This Saturday marks the 74th year that Anderson Speedway will be opening for competition.
