For most of the Thunder Car feature Dustin Sapp turned down a number of challengers to score his first feature win of the season. Sapp set fast time for the Byrider Spring Championships at Anderson Speedway on Saturday and led from start to finish but the outcome hung in the balance until the end.

There is a lot at stake when the CRA Sportsman Late Models and Street Stocks make their final appearance at Anderson Speedway. This is the final event for both divisions at Anderson Speedway on Saturday Night Racing presented by the Herald Bulletin and Cintas for drivers to lock into the Chase championship at Winchester Speedway on Oct. 12.

The National Crown is the longest continuous stock car race in the nation and this Saturday it returns to the roots that started it all in 1949. The 71st Annual National Crown presented by Byrider will feature the ThunderCars for the second time in the 70-year history of the race. Dustin Sapp is the defending National Crown winner.

Same car, different driver, the same result as Carson Hocevar put the familiar VanDoorn racing colors into victory lane of the Redbud 400. A year ago it was Johnny VanDoorn driving to victory at Anderson Speedway. Hocevar survived a battle for the first 200 laps with Casey Johnson before taking control of the 54th running of the super late model classic on Monday.

Ohio veteran driver Cody Coughlin dominated the Sport Clips 100 presented by U.S. Army to record his second CRA JEGS All-Stars Tour victory in 2021. Coughlin set fast time during qualifying Saturday with Tanner Jack and Mason Keller close behind. The invert saw Billy VanMeter take the lead at the start chased by Keller, Coughlin and Chase Burda. Jack’s night ended on the second lap when his Chevrolet made contact with the turn three wall.

Just as he has done for most of the 2021 season Jimmy Kirby continued to dominate the ThunderCar Division at Anderson Speedway. Kirby led all 50 laps Saturday to capture the 72nd running of the National Crown presented by Beaumont Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. It was the sixth win for Kirby in seven feature races in the division and marked his victory in the biggest race of the year for the ThunderCar competitors.
