 Anderson Speedway returns to action this Saturday racing in five divisions with the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models topping the racing card. Action will take place in the Late Models, Thunder Cars, the second appearance of the VROA Modifieds and the first appearances of the season by the CSR Minicups and Indy FasKarts.

Anderson Speedway officials have made the decision to postpone the races scheduled for tonight, June 21 due to forecasted rain showers today and this evening. “I had high hopes the forecast would change but after seriously examining the weather forecasts from several sources, it appears we will have rain all day” says Speedway President, Rick Dawson. “Everything shows rain today and with what we have already had this morning and over the past week, the facilities are reaching saturation”.

Local driver Josh Poore led the final 100 laps of the Sport Clips 200, but the outcome on Saturday at Anderson Speedway wasn’t determined until the final lap.

A year ago Brett Hudson captured the Champion Racing Association’s Street Stock 200 at Anderson Speedway and he will be looking to make it two in a row. The CRA Street Stock 200, the second event in the Five Crown series, will be contested on Sport Clips Night at the track this Saturday.

Anderson Speedway officials have decided to go back to the original plan of not racing on June 2nd, but you can still support Anderson Speedway and catch some fun racing. A small group of residents has been working to bring the thrill of a soap box derby back to Anderson after a four-year hiatus. The Anderson Soap Box Derby is set for Saturday at the city’s Derby Downs at 2 N. Madison Avenue. Quintin Duncan of Muncie will be wheeling the Anderson Speedway entry.  Quintin is 13 and will be an eighth grader in the fall at Yorktown Middle School.  He is really looking forward to the race.  This will be his first time racing soap box, but he is not nervous and is looking forward to the experience.  Quintin enjoys playing soccer and video games.  His parents are Christopher and Summer Duncan of Muncie IN.   Please support Quintin and the other soap box derby participants this Saturday, June 2.
