ANDERSON – Anderson’s Josh Poore captured a championship at Anderson Speedway in a fourth different division.
Poore won the Modified feature Saturday on Championship Night sponsored by McGowan Insurance and Sherwin Williams.
He added the Modified title to championships captured in the past in the Late Model, Street Stock and Thunder Car divisions.
Tyler DeHart set fast time during qualifying and led the first 18 laps chased by Nathan Greene and Poore.
On the 19th lap, DeHart got high in turn four and spun when trying to get back down to the low groove.
Poore passed Greene on the restart to win his third feature race of the year with Greene and Colin Grissom rounding out the top three.
“I had to wait for the car to come in tonight,” Poore said in the Hoosier Lottery Victory Lane. “Nathan (Greene) always races you clean and I knew it would be a good race.”
Caleb Burge made all the right moves to capture the Knapp Supply Ford Division title.
Burge entered the night a point behind John Robbins and moved into the top spot following qualifying to start fourth in the feature with Robbins starting 12th.
The early lead of the feature race was taken by Jared Keller chased by Noah Allison and Ron Phipps.
The only caution flag waved on lap 18 when three cars tangled and on the restart Keller slowed giving the lead to Phipps with Burge moving into the second spot and challenged for the win with Allison coming home in third.
Robbins would finish ninth.
Robbins did capture his fifth championship in the Beaver Construction Legends finishing second in the feature event.
Xavier King set fast time during qualifications and led the entire distance to record his first feature win of the year with Robbins moving into the second spot after four circuits.
The race was red-flagged on lap 14 when Eddie Fostnight and Alex Hess battling for third in the race and the season championship got together on the back straight. The car of Tyler Collard made contact and flipped.
An incidents during practice had a huge impact on the championship battle in the Legends Division.
Johnny Weaver, who entered the night with a slim point lead over John Robbins in the Beaver Construction Legends division, crashed during the practice session.
It appeared the throttle might have stuck on his Legend car vaulting him into the outside retaining wall and the car suffered significant damage.
