For 37 laps the winner of the 24th annual Grant Fritz/Greg Dietzen remained a three-car battle at Anderson Speedway. But at the end of the race it was John Robbins who emerged as the winner for the second consecutive year. “Winning this race means a lot to me,” Robbins said in the Riley & Sons Victory Lane. “Both Grant Fritz and Greg Dietzen were not just competitors but friends.”

ANDERSON – It’s a wide open field of potential winners for the running of the 25th annual Grant Fritz/Greg Dietzen Memorial.

Bobby Santos III drove almost the perfect race to capture the Summer Sprint Showdown presented by CB Fabricating and The Tin Plate Fine Food and Spirits on Saturday night. Santos led the final 100 laps but had to hold off Tyler Roahrig at the finish. Roahrig set fast time during qualifying but with an invert of 10 for the 125-lap feature he along with Dakoda Armstrong and Jacob McElfresh would have to work their way to the front.

Plymouth driver Tyler Roahrig will be seeking his fifth non-wing sprint car race win over the past three years. Roahrig, the winner of the Pay Less Little 500 in May, will be looking to return to victory lane at Anderson Speedway in the Summer Sprintcar Showdown presented by CB Fabricating and The Tin Plate Fine Food and Spirits, after finishing second to Kody Swanson in the Glen Niebel Classic During the Niebel Classic three weeks ago. Billy Wease led the first 62 laps before a suspension issue forced his retirement turning over the point to Swanson.

Just as he has done for most of the 2021 season Jimmy Kirby continued to dominate the ThunderCar Division at Anderson Speedway. Kirby led all 50 laps Saturday to capture the 72nd running of the National Crown presented by Beaumont Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. It was the sixth win for Kirby in seven feature races in the division and marked his victory in the biggest race of the year for the ThunderCar competitors.

It’s the longest continuous stock car race in the country starting in 1950 at Anderson Speedway. Herchel White won the first ever National Crown and it has been at the top of every driver’s bucket list for the past 72 years. The National Crown for many years was the top race for the Figure-8 Division but since 2019 the Thunder Cars have been in the spotlight. The Beaumont Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center National Crown tops the Saturday racing program that includes the Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drive Division, Hart’s Auto Ford Division and Legends.

We regret to inform you that Anderson Speedway has lost one of our smiling faces. Dixie "Granny" Denham passed away Sunday, July 18. She has been greeting competitors, staff and fans at our pit gate for many years. Granny was a fixture at the pit gate anytime the track was open for business. She will be remembered with that contagious smile as you entered the gate and the wave goodbye as you left. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana, with Chaplain Larry Avery officiating.
