Anderson driver Chris Teepe took two of the three segments in Pro Compacts action at Anderson Speedway on Saturday.
Teepe took the lead at the start, thanked by the fact that several drivers scheduled to start on the front two rows all opted to go to the back of the field.
He was chased by fast qualifier Kevin Harmon and Ron Phipps, but none of the other two drivers were able to match Teepe’s speed.
Using the high line coming off the corners, Teepe opened a comfortable lead to defeat Harmon by almost one-second. Phipps finished third in a close battle with Larry Hughes. Jeff Williams came home in fifth.
After the race, Harmon came over to Teepe in the Tim Thompson Nationwide Insurance Winner’s Circle to congratulate the winner.
The feature was a carbon copy of the heat race with Teepe again leading from start to finish with Harmon again coming home as runner-up. Phipps, Hughes and Thomas Bigelow rounded out the top five.
Harmon set quick time with a lap of 14.803-seconds to edge out Teepe with a lap of 14.872-seconds.
