Three divisions will see their first racing action of the 2015 season at Anderson Speedway this Saturday headlined by the Street Stock Division and the first visit of the Interstate Auto Auction Winged Outlaw Figure 8 Series.
Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing starting at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $12 and $4 for children between the ages of 6 to 12.
A new champion will be crowned in the Street Stock Division with Dustin Burge moving up the late model competition this year.
The list of returning drivers in the division includes 2013 champion Jimmy Kirby, perennial Anderson Speedway front-runner Josh Poore, Andrew Cook and Danny Adams.
A number of drivers from Ohio and Kentucky are expected to compete at the high banked quarter-mile oval on a regular basis in 2015.
The Winged Outlaw Figure 8 Series (WOFS) is set to kick off April 11 at Anderson Speedway. Defending champion Mike Hadley Jr. headlines a stout field as he prepares to defend his 2014 championship.
New for 2015 will be the reduction in the size of the wings to a maximum of 60”in height. The series made the change in an effort to slow the cars down and create more parity in the racing action.
Several new drivers, and drivers who ran regularly in 2014, have committed to run the series full-time this season including: Jesse Tunny, Johnny Hargraves, Ben Tunny, Larry Hahn, Chris Green, and Mike Riddle Jr. among others. 2014 WOFS Rookie of the Year Jacob Garrigus is also expected to battle for the WOFS championship.
The Mel Kenyon Midget Series will be making its first visit of the year with the list of expected drivers led by former champion Jessica Bean.
For the second week in a row the Thunder Roadsters will be in action. Last week Doug Dugger held off a late charge by defending champion John Robbins to open the season with a victory.
