Late pass gives Conner Legends victory

ANDERSON – Just when it looked like Johnny Weaver was going to win his first Beaver Contracting Legends feature, a late race caution changed the outcome.

Weaver started on the front row as a result of the invert on Military Appreciation Night presented by JD Byrider and jumped into the lead ahead of Xavier King and Dalton Conner, who set fast time during qualifying.

Kristen Hammer made a nifty move on lap three climbing from fourth to second, but by lap nine she was passed by both King and Conner.

Weaver had a comfortable lead chased by Conner and King when the race’s only caution flag waved on lap 27 for a spin by CJ Penrod.

On the restart, Conner was able to get inside of Weaver o the back straight to take the lead and went on to win by less than three-tenths of a second over Weaver with Robbins coming home in third.

Jeff Marcum claimed his third Late Model win of the season taking the lead after early leader Ronnie Rose and JP Crabtree tangled on lap 14.

From there Marcum went on to the victory over Ryder VanAlst and James Butler.

Austin Pursley got his first feature victory of the year in Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drive action taking the point on a restart from early leader Josh Ebbert.

Ebbert’s night ended on lap 18 with a mechanical problem giving Pursley the comfortable victory.

JD Blankenship Jr. and Chris Hudson rounded out the podium finish.
