Anderson Speedway will be celebrating the July 4th weekend with two big nights of racing and the traditional spectacular fireworks show on Independence Day.
The activities start on Saturday with racing action for the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models, Marcum Welding Pro Compacts, Thunder Roadsters and the first ever visit of the Indy Champ Karts.
Jeff Marcum leads the late model point standings with Ron Phipps the leader in the Pro Compact division and Doug Dugger atop the standings in the Thunder Roadster division.
Qualifying is set for 6:30 p.m. with racing at 8 p.m.
“Figure 8 Madness” returns on Monday sponsored by Star 106.9 and the Madison County Visitor’s Bureau and includes action in the Outlaw Figure-8 Series, Harts Auto Figure-8’s and the first Front Wheel Drive Figure-8 action of the season.
The Marcum Welding Pro Compacts will be the only oval action on Monday.
The racing action will be capped off by the popular Trailer Race Figure-8 which always brings out a wide variety of decorated trailers.
Qualifying is set for 5:30 p.m. with racing action starting at 7 p.m.
Adult tickets are priced at $12 with a $4 admission cost for children between the ages of 6 and 12 for both nights. Children 5 years and younger are admitted free when accompanied by an adult on Saturday and Monday.
