Two-time Pay Less Little 500 champion Marvin Carman of Michigan has passed away on Tuesday.
The Union City, Michigan driver started from the pole position and won the Pay Less Little 500 at Anderson Speedway in 1982 and followed it up with a victory in 1983.
Carman was inducted into the Little 500 Hall of Fame in 1999 and into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
Carman raced in the Little 500 from 1980 through 1987, returned from 1995 to 1999 and made his final start in 2003.
During his career Carman started 14 Little 500 races and recorded five top ten finishes. He led the races in 1981, 1982 and 1983.
He remained active in the May classic at Anderson Speedway as a car owner and mentor to many drivers over the years. Carman was a familiar sight at Anderson Speedway during Pay Less Little 500 week.
