The Champion Racing Association’s Vore’s Welding Late Model Sportsman will be making the first of four visits to Anderson Speedway this Saturday. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing action starting at 8 p.m. The Anderson Speedway Street Stock Division and Marcum’s Welding Pro Compacts are also on the racing card.
Last year the CRA Sportsman visited Anderson Speedway five different times and it always attracted a large field of McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models for the 75-lap event.
Scott Tomasik won the opening feature race for the MEP Late Models and defending champion Jack Dossey III was a winner the second time the division was in action.
Last year Chris Hacker, Danny Trent, Jason Atkinson, Greg VanAlst and Quinntan Bear recorded CRA wins at Anderson.
The race this Saturday will be a tune-up for the CRA Street Stocks that will be making their first appearance in Anderson on May 9 for a 75-lap feature. Calvin Parham won the feature race the last time the Anderson Street Stocks were in action.
Colby Lane is coming off his first series win at Shady Bowl Speedway in Ohio in a 200-lap event and scored a win last weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Parham and Lane can expect to be challenged by the father/son team of James and Jimmy Kirby, Josh Poore and Nick Warner.
In the first appearance of the Marcum’s Welding Pro Compact Series Adam Lee had a night of firsts recording his first fast time during qualifications, winning his first heat race and capping the night off with his initial feature win.
Admission is $12 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
