Outlaw Figure-8’s Top Double Header Weekend

After a one-year absence because of the pandemic the Outlaw Figure-8 Late Models return Sunday, July 4. Indianapolis driver Eddie VanMeter will be seeking his third consecutive win in the 50-lap feature that tops the Best Way Disposal Figure-8 Madness presented by The Jane Pauley Community Health Center on Sunday starting at 7 p.m. As is always part of the July 4 racing cards the popular School Bus and Trailer races will take place in the crossover. The Hart’s Ford Division and Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drives will be in action on the Figure-8 course as well. The night is capped off by the annual fireworks show.

New Castle driver Jason Atkinson used the correct tire management strategy to capture the Tom Wood Honda 150 Saturday night. On Knapp Supply Night, Atkinson set fast time during qualifying and as a result of the invert started ninth in the 20-car field. Andrew Teepe took the lead from the pole position in the Champion Racing Association’s Four Crown Series race for the Street Stocks. Atkinson moved into the top five after 20 laps behind Teepe, Brett Hudson, Chuck Barnes Jr. and Dale Harper. Hudson took the lead on lap 42 with an inside pass of Teepe on the front straight with Barnes and Atkinson slipping into the second and third spots before the mid-race break.

Hutson Claims PGG 100

Fort Wayne driver Billy Hutson accomplished a goal he’s been striving for since 2006 at Anderson Speedway. Over the past few years Hutson has set fast time during qualifications for the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models, but victory always eluded him. Hutson, on Saturday, passed early leader Jimmy Kirby III on lap 48 to win for the first time on the high banked quarter-mile oval in the PGG 100.

Coughlin Scores Sport Clips 100 Presented by U.S. Army Victory

Ohio veteran driver Cody Coughlin dominated the Sport Clips 100 presented by U.S. Army to record his second CRA JEGS All-Stars Tour victory in 2021. Coughlin set fast time during qualifying Saturday with Tanner Jack and Mason Keller close behind. The invert saw Billy VanMeter take the lead at the start chased by Keller, Coughlin and Chase Burda. Jack’s night ended on the second lap when his Chevrolet made contact with the turn three wall.

Pro Late Models Tops Saturday Racing Card

Several area drivers will be seeking their first win when the CRA JEGS All-Stars Tour comes to Anderson Speedway. The pro late model series has competed on the high banked quarter-mile oval eight times since 2011 in racing that has produced six different winners. The JEGS All-Stars Tour will be competing in the Sport Clips 100 presented by U.S. Army and there are 19 drivers entered.
