Anderson Speedway to Crown Three Champions

ANDERSON – The first night of the battle for championships at Anderson Speedway is set for this weekend.

The track will crown champions in three divisions on Saturday in the McGunegill Engine Late Model, Ford and Thunder Roadster divisions.

The races will provide double points toward the title.

Jeff Marcum is seeking his seventh track championship in Late Model competition and leads the team of JP Crabtree and Mike Sargent by 117 points.

Marum has visited the Riley & Sons Victory Lane five times this season with Crabtree and Tommy Cook recording wins.

Marcum has won track championships in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2023.

There is a tight points race in the Ford Division with Ron Phipps holding a 58-point lead over Colson Gray.

Phipps has won twice this year and has been joined in victory lane by Josh Sage, JD Blankenship, Rickie Tharp II and Michael Phipps, the winner of the 58th annual National Crown.

Doug Dugger and John Robbins have each recorded two feature wins in Thunder Roadster action with Brad Kendell also scoring a victory.

Dugger leads Robbins by eight points with Kendell within striking distance trailing the point leader by 46 points.

Dugger is seeking a fourth championship having won in 2020, 2022 and 2023.

Robbins won championships in 2014 and 2015.

Qualifying is set for 5:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for kids aged 6-12, and free for all kids 5 and under.
