Anderson, Indiana: Action Entertainment Inc. has released the 2024 racing schedule for Anderson Speedway to celebrate the 77th season of racing at the high-banked quarter-mile oval.
The 76th Annual Little 500 will once again headline the season in its usual Memorial Day Weekend slot on Saturday, May 25th. The Annual Little 500 Sprint Car Classic will boast its traditional starting field of eleven rows of three with the best sprint cars drivers in the country battling it out for 500 laps. Jake Trainor went to victory lane in the 2023 edition of the Little 500 and became the first rookie since 1981 to do so.
The Little 500 will be one of four events for the 500 Sprint Car Tour at Anderson Speedway. The non-wing sprint car series will make their first trip to Anderson on April 6th for the 24th running of the Glen Niebel Classic. The event will be used as a tune up race for the 76th Annual Little 500. The Third Annual Gene Nolen Classic will be run on Saturday, July 13th, and the Ninth Annual Tony Elliott Classic will return in its familiar Fall slot, running on October 5th.
The 58th Annual Redbud 400 will return to Anderson on Saturday, July 20th. The race will feature Super Series Late Models competing in a 400-lap event with pit stop action. Cole Butcher piloted his way to victory lane in the 57th Annual Redbud 400 for his first Redbud victory. The event will once again be sanctioned by the ASA Stars National Tour and will be competed on the Saturday before the much anticipated return of the Brickyard 400 for the NASCAR Cup Series at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Another staple on the Anderson Speedway calendar returns with the 75th Annual National Crown race on August 3rd. The race, which is the longest continuous stock car race in America, will once again feature the Vintage Wrench Ford Division Figure 8. Rickie Tharp II drove to victory in an exciting 74th Annual National Crown in July of 2023 that saw multiple late race cautions and lead changes.
Fan favorite events will return to Anderson Speedway with the 4th of July Figure 8 Madness on Thursday, July 4th, and Night of Thrills on Saturday, August 31st. Both events will see amazing figure 8 racing including the Vintage Wrench Ford Division, Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drives, School Bus figure 8’s, and the Prairie Farms Trailer Races. Not to mention an amazing firework display following racing action on July 4th.
Seven local divisions will be highlighted throughout the season at Anderson Speedway. McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models, Vore’s Welding & Steel Street Stocks, Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drives, Vintage Wrench Ford Division, Modifieds, Legends, and Thunder Roadsters. Anderson Speedway has officially transitioned the Thundercar Division into a new Street Stock Division and has also added Modifieds and Legends to the local division slate. Some events to look forward to will be the 75th Annual National Crown race with the Vintage Wrench Ford Division, the Modified 100 on April 20th featuring the newly formed Modified Division, and a 200-lap event for the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models on July 27th.
Several touring series will make visits to Anderson Speedway including the ASA Stars National Tour, JEGS All-Star Tour, CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks, USSA Kenyon Midgets, VORES Compact Touring Series, Midwest Modified Tour, Ohio Wheelman Series, Midwest Champ Karts, and Midwest Super Cups.
Long distance street stock races have been a mainstay at Anderson Speedway for the past decade. In 2024 two 150 CRA Street Stock races will make their way onto the schedule (June 29th and August 10th).
New to the 2024 schedule will be the previously mentioned Modified 100 on April 20th and the return of the Midwest Super Cups on June 29th. Races returning to 2024 that were new in 2023 include Midwest Modified Tour on September 28th, the Ohio Wheelman Series on June 8th, and a 200 lap Late Model Race on July 27th.
The VORES Compact Touring Series will make two visits to Anderson Speedway in 2024. The first will come in a Spring showcase on April 27th alongside the CRA Sportsman Late Models and CRA Street Stocks. The second will come in a similar package albeit towards the end of the 2024 schedule on September 14th. Street Stocks and Late Models will once again participate alongside the VCTS, however it will be in the form of Anderson’s local divisions opposed to CRA.
