Anderson’s Josh Poore used the high line to pass Jason Atkinson with 38 laps remaining to capture the CRA Stealth Trailers Street Stocks feature at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, May 3.
Poore set fast time during qualifications and started 10th in the 75-lap feature, working his way steadily to the front.
Poore was running third on lap 35 when he moved to the outside line to first pass Jimmy Kirby on lap 36 and then made an identical move to pass Atkinson entering turn three a lap later.
Following Poore to the checkers were Dustin Burge, Atkinson, J.J. Schafer and Jimmy Kirby.
Although Atkinson was in the lead to that point he was being pressed by Jimmy Kirby, Poore, Dustin Burge and Brandon Mefford.
The final caution flag waved on lap 71 which gave Atkinson one final chance to pass Poore, but he wasn’t able to contend for the win.
The early lead was taken by James Kirby III who got loose going down the back straight on lap 10 which allowed Atkinson to take the top spot with an outside pass.
The race was slowed by 11 caution flags with only 12 of the 21 cars still running at the finish.
Kevin Harmon took the lead on the next to last lap from Ron Phipps to win his first feature of the year in the Front Wheel Drive Oval Division.
Jerry Dane took the lead from early leader Billy Hooten on the seventh lap, but was able to hold back a bunch of cars running two-wide.
Phipps took the lead from Dane on a restart as Harmon moved up from the third spot to claim the victory.
Phipps finished second with Adam Lee, Dylan Hoppes and Dane rounding out the top five.
After setting fast time in qualifying for the Thunder Roadsters, James Edsell III grabbed his first win of the season with an inside pass of early leader John Robbins on the fourth lap.
He was followed to the checkers by Marty Griffin and John Robbins.
Edsall’s main competitor for the win Chris Weddel was knocked from competition in a crash in the heat race. Weddell climbed over the car of
Darrell Brown with both cars making heavy contact with the outside wall.
Kenny Smith made it two wins in a row in Super Karts competition climbing from the eighth starting position to take the lead on lap two.
Smith and David Reynolds were able to get inside of early leader Brad Kares. From there the two front runners pulled away from the field with Jason Reynolds coming home in third.
