Tight point battle highlights Championship Night

ANDERSON – Anderson Speedway will be crowning three champions this weekend on Championship Night 1 with double points available, with the championship hanging in the balance.

The Modified Division which has produced some of the best racing of the year with many of the feature events not decided until the closing laps.

Josh Poore, a champion in the Street Stock Division, leads the Modified point standing over Joe Beaver by 76 points with Andy Cowan sitting in third another 16 points back.

Poore has won two features this year and Cowan has one feature victory. Dalton Conner, who is not competing for the championship has two feature wins.

There is only one point separating Knapp Supply Ford Division point leader John Robbins from Caleb Burge with Curtis Chapman 33 points behind the leader.

Burge has one feature win along with Andrew Evans and Colin Grissom. Randy Owen not competing for the title has won the last two oval features.

There is a tight point battle for the Beaver Construction Legends title.

Johnny Weaver leads Robbins by 8 points with Xavier King 42 points behind the leader. Alex Hess and Eddie Fostnight are both within striking distance of the title.

Qualifying is set for 5:30 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m.

Adults tickets are $15, $5 for children 6 to 12 years old and free under five.
