ANDERSON — For the 78th consecutive year, Anderson Speedway opens a new season Saturday with racing action in four divisions.
The Modified Division returns for a second year as a regular division at the track.
Last year Jake Owens was crowned the driver’s champion in the division while Nathan Greene claimed the owner’s honors.
Several new competitors in the division are expected in 2025 with a strong field anticipated.
Last year five different drivers visited victory lane with Dalton Conner winning three events and Greene winning twice.
Opening night also marks the second year with the Beaver Contracting Legends as a full-time division. The track has hosted Legends competitors on an annual basis for the Grant Fritz/Greg Dietzen Memorial race.
The Legends feature is 25 laps.
Madison County resident John Robbins is the defending champion.
Four different drivers scored victories with Robbins leading the way with three wins and Sam Johnson with two.
The Knapp Supply Ford Crown Vic division for a 25-lap opening night feature with Ron Phipps as the defending champion.
Phipps and Rickie Tharp II both won twice during the 2024 season.
Robbins is the defending Beaver Contracting Thunder Roadster champion and the season kicks-off with a 25-lap feature.
Robbins and Doug Dugger battled for the championship throughout last season with both drivers scoring three victories.
Qualifying Saturday is set for 4:30 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m.
Adult tickets are $15. Tickets are $5 for children between the ages of 6 and 12 and free for children under the age of 5.
