75th Season Opens This Sunday at Anderson Speedway
April 5, 2022…. Anderson Speedway officials announced the season opening event will take place this Sunday, April 10th. This event marks the beginning of the 75th anniversary of racing at the famed track. Originally scheduled for Saturday night, officials determined the weather will be much more comfortable for the fans and competitors if the event was moved to Sunday. The practice schedule for Friday has been scrubed.
Four Divisions will be in competition on Sunday, including the stars of the ARCA/CRA Super Series presented by Mitch Smith Auto Service and Perfecto, USSA Mel Kenyon Midgets, Noble Wine & Spirits ThunderCars and the Vintage Wrench Crown Vic’s. Racing will consist of 220 laps of feature racing along with 10 lap heat races for the USSA Midgets. Racing will begin at 4:00 pm with the USSA heats with the feature races to follow.
“We are excited to welcome our fans and competitors back to the Speedway for this special season of racing” said Anderson Speedway President, Rick Dawson. “75 years is a long time for a race track to be in operation. My staff and I have worked very hard over the off season to provide great events for 2022 and we are anxious to get it going”
Gates will open at 2:00 for spectators this Sunday with racing beginning at 4:00. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 children 6-12 and under 6 are free. There will be plenty of great food and beverages available at are several concession stands throughout the facility.
