Tunney claims Outlaw Figure 8; Cullen, Alley, Burge and Warner also Winners

Jesse Tunney was able to pass Ben Tunney with 14 laps remaining to capture the Outlaw Figure 8 event at Anderson Speedway on Wednesday.
Ben Tunney took the lead from Jesse Tunney on a restart on Anderson/Madison County Visitor’s Bureau and Best Way Disposal Figure 8 Madness night on lap 13 and led the remainder of the way.
But on lap 35 Jesse Tunney closed the gap on the leader and made an inside pass in the third corner and then was able to hold on to win by .296-seconds.
After Jesse Tunney made the pass for the lead Ben Tunney charged back but barely missed contact with the car of Jeff Shackelford.
Shackelford finished third followed by Jacob Garrigus and Chris Green.
Austin Tunney took the early lead but had a narrow miss in the crossover with Green on lap 13 and went to the pit area for a change of tires.
While Austin Tunney was out front there was a heated battle for the second spot between Garrigus, Ben Tunney and Jesse Tunney.
Ben Tunney set fast time during qualifications with a lap of 16.876-seconds followed by Jesse Tunney and Jacob Garrigus. The top six drivers also were within six-tenths of a second of the fast time.
Shawn Cullen avoided a multi-car tangle on the front straight on the opening lap of the Hart’s Auto Figure 8 and went on to record his second consecutive win.
The incident started when Timmy Perkins got loose coming off the second corner and made contact with the car of Jared Keller and eventually Bruce McFall and Nick Warner were involved. Everyone was able to continue.
Cullen led the entire distance chased by Warner with McFall coming home in third.
Mike Alley captured the Marcum Welding Front Wheel Drive Figure-8 race holding off a determined Ricky Craig.
Travis Burge was the winner of the School Bus Figure-8 and Nick Warner captured the Trailer Race.
