Wherefore seeing we also are
compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every
weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience
the race that is set before us, (2) Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher
of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12: 1-2 (KJV)
Greetings in the name of Jesus!
I
was looking at our racing schedule for the last half of the season and I saw a
lot of long races coming up. The long races require patience and endurance. So
is the race we run here on earth.
As we walk day to day trials come upon
us. God lets these trials come to build our strength, endurance against Satan,
and patience in dealing with others. In those long races the drivers must
exercise a lot of patience. Without patience they would use up their car and not
be able to finish. They must have good endurance to be able to drive for 200
laps or more. The question then is how do we get there? Well the answer is an
old one, practice, practice, practice.
As we walk day to day, we are presented with problems. How we deal with them is
how we learn to cope with the trials of life. We learn something every day. You
may not realize it at the time, but somewhere down the road something that you
have done, or received will come back to you. It’s a constant process.
Jesus endured great trials during his walk on earth. There is nothing that you
can face that he hasn’t been through. He endured great pain and suffering for
you and I. What a great showing of patience. He could have, at any time called,
down the angels from heaven and came off of the cross. But he didn’t, he showed
great patience because he knew that the race could not be won until he overcame
death and the grave in victory over Satan. I hope and pray that you too can
claim victory in this race of life. Through Jesus we can claim that victory. As
the trials and temptations of life come upon us we can go to him and get relief
for he has been through it all. I hope this has been a blessing to you and given
you strength to endure this race of life.
Unfortunately I won’t be there this Friday night because of an out of town
business trip. I’ll be lifting you up from the road as we should be on our way
home at race time.
