Robbie Wyman made it three consecutive wins in NASH-FM Thunder Car action last Saturday at Anderson Speedway.
For the third time this year Wyman set quick time with a lap of 14.95-seconds to edge out Curtis Chapman’s lap of 14.99-seconds.
Chapman took the early lead chased by Lonny Burton and Wyman. Wyman passed Burton and closed on Chapman, several times giving him a bump in the corners.
When the two front-runners encountered a slower car entering turn one, Wyman used the inside line to take the lead. Chapman quickly closed and several times gave Wyman a nudge. That nudge on lap 12 caused Wyman to spin exiting the fourth corner.
Wyman was sent to the tail and Chapman was informed by officials that he was done for the night, violating the zero tolerance rule.
That put Burton on the back followed by Brian Lewis and Kyle Allmond. Wyman passed Dylan Hoppes and Allmond with outside moved to run third after 13 laps. On the next lap he passed Lewis on the inside and set his sights on Burton.
Wyman used the outside groove to take the lead from Burton on lap 18 and drove away to a comfortable win.
Burton finished second followed by Hoppes, Lewis and Jimmy Hawkins.
“I had to drive like heck,” Wyman said of starting from the tail while in the Tim Thompson Nationwide Insurance Winner’s Circle.
Burton stopped by to tell Wyman that he would “get him the next time”.
