Muncie driver Dawson West took the lead from his brother, Jordan, on lap nine and then held off two visiting Kentucky drivers to win the Vintage Wrench Ford Division feature.
After taking the lead fast qualifier Daniel Darrett and John Lister swapped second place several times over the closing laps with West maintaining a car-length lead. Coming off the final corner West used lapped traffic as a pick and went on to win by .279-seconds over Lister, Darrett, Jordan West and Jared Keller.
“That was a battle,” West said. “I knew they were right behind me and I was able to use the lapped car to protect the low line.” With Dawson West on the point Darrett and Lister put on a spirited battle for the second spot with both challenging for the victory. West’s margin of victory was less than three-tenths of a second. West also claimed his first heat race victory of the year passing James Mikesell early in the 10-lap race and then holding off Shane Slaven and Lister.
Matthew Bezenbower, a frequent winner in the School Bus Figure-8 events, took the lead from Owen Aaron with two laps remaining in the second heat race and then watched Randy Owen challenge for the victory. Benzenbower would win by .376-seconds over Owen followed by Dakota Brough, Aaron and Shelbie Crabtree
