Salem, IN (August 19, 2020) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, Indiana, for the third of four scheduled series events at the fast ¼ mile track. The event will feature many of the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman stars and the best of the Anderson Speedway MEP Late Models.

After having several events postponed or canceled because of the COVID 19 pandemic, the series began its 2020 season on June 6th at Anderson Speedway. The season opener saw one of the bigger Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman fields in recent memory with a strong field of 26 cars taking the green flag, veteran Tommy Cook came away with the win. Multi-time Anderson Speedway Late Model Champion Jeff Marcum got the win in the series 100 lap special event on July 25th  at Anderson Speedway. Austin Coe picked up his first series win of the season in the series last event, the Norton Transport Raintree 100, at Mt. Lawn Speedway last Sunday.

With his win last Sunday, Coe is now the series Championship Points Leader heading into Saturday’s race. 17-year-old series rookie Tanner Jack comes into Saturday event second in points, he is seven points behind Coe and won the August 8th Anderson Speedway MEP Late Models 100 lap special event. Marcum is in third place, he is eight points behind Jack. Mike Sargent is fourth in series Owner points, 10 points behind Marcum. Sargeant and J.P. Crabtree have been behind the wheel of that car so far this season. Veteran Central Indiana  racer Kent Carson is in fifth place, he is four points behind Sargent.

With their wins, Coe and Marcum are locked into the series 2020 Chase for the Championship. The top five in points are battling for the series regular season Championship, which gives that driver an automatic spot in the final four drivers who will compete for the series Championship in the final Chase for the Championship event at Winchester Speedway on October 10th.
