Tight point’s battle for spring championship
ANDERSON – The second round of spring championship at Anderson Speedway will be critical as driver’s compete for titles at the end of the year.
The Meldon HVCA Mother’s Day Classic will see fierce competition in four divisions including the USA Tire Modifieds, Vores Welding & Steel Street Stocks, Beaver Contracting Legends and Front Wheel Drives.
Dalton Connor holds a one-point lead over Josh Poore and two-points over Joe Beaver in the Modified Division.
Connor and Poore have both scored feature wins this year with Beaver knocking on the door for a victory. RJ Norton III is fourth and rookie Lucas Ball sits fifth in the standings.
Poore leads the points in the Street Stock division on the strength of his 52nd career win in the division. Defending champion James Kirby III is second, only two-point back followed by Connor, former champion Andrew Cook and Andrew Teepe.
Connor is the point leader in Legends competition following a feature win in the only event to date. Xavir King sits in second followed by former champion John Robbins, Kristen Hammer and Chaise Pendrod.
Caleb Southerland is the point leader in the Front Wheel Drive division chased by Austin Pursley and Nick Warner.
Qualifying is set for 6 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. Adult tickets are $15, $5 for children 6 to 12 years old and free under five.
