Sprints and Kenyon Midgets Top Racing Card
ANDERSON – Three drivers will be battling for the Kenyon Midget Series championship this weekend at Anderson Speedway.
Following a cancelled race last weekend at the Indianapolis Speedrome, the Kenyon Midgets will be competing in two feature events.
Veteran competitor Ryan Huggler is the current point leader with the 2023 rookie of the year Evan Hammond currently second in the point standings.
Three-time champion Dameron Taylor is third in the standings and has a season high five victories with the series including a win in the Don and Mel Kenyon Classic.
The 500 Sprint Car Tour drivers will be competing in the ninth annual Tony Elliott Classic presented by Ascension St. Vincent Hospital.
Kody Swanson has a slim point lead over Bobby Santos III and Billy Wease. The champion will be decided in the final race of the year on Oct. 19 at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
Swanson and Santos have both scored sprint car wins at Anderson Speedway this season and Wease has posted consecutive fourth place finishes.
Several drivers without championship hopes on Saturday will be looking to pull into the Riley & Sons Victory Lane including Tyler Roahrig, Dakoda Armstrong and the most recent race winner Taylor Ferns.
Frankton veteran driver John Robbins will be looking for his fourth win in the most important race of the year for the Legends division at Anderson Speedway.
For the 28th year the Legends competitors will take part in the Fritz/Dietzen Memorial race, named to honor to former competitors in the division.
Robbins for the third time won the race in 2023 holding off Sam Johnson for the victory.
Robbins won the championship in the return of the Legends to a full-time division at Anderson Speedway having to hold off Johnson and his teammate Xavier King for the honors.
The Midwest Champ Carts will be competing in their longest race of the year a 44-lap feature event.
Qualifying is set for 4:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $18 for adults, $5 for kids age 6-12, and free for all kids 5 and under.
