Sportsman Late Model contesting Madison County 200

ANDERSON – An impressive field of drivers is expected for the biggest race of the year for the Champion Racing Association Sportsman Late Models is set for this weekend.

The Indiana Liquor Group Madison County 200 highlights the racing program at Anderson Speedway with the Vores Welding & Steel Street Stocks on the program.

Last year Greg VanAlst won the Madison County 200 which this year is paying $5,000 to the winner.

Jeff Marcum, leading the points in the local McGunegill Engine Performance Later Models, has to be considered a favorite already winning two CRA events this year.

Point leader Zach Stacy is entered along with Billy Hutson, Cassten Everidge, Brent and Hunter Jack and Canadian Jay Palumbo.

Other top contenders include JP Crabtree, Ronnie Rose, Nathan Greene and Joe Beaver.

Jimmy Kirby, Josh Poore and Andrew Cook have all scored feature wins in the Street Stock division.

The race is the final tune-up for the Street Stock 150 on Aug. 10 for the CRA competitors.

Three different drivers have visited the Riley & Sons Victory Lane in Legends Division action.

Sam Johnson is coming off back-to-back wins with Xavier King and John Robbins recording feature wins.

King leads Robbins by eight points in the championship battle with Johnson 94 points back.

Qualifying is set for 6 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for kids age 6-12, and free for all kids 5 and under.
