For the entire Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drive feature Caleb Southerland was battling with a gaggle of drivers from the Buckeye State. Visiting driver Tim Dovel took the lead from the start chased by James Allender, Mike Wintrow, Axel Sullivan and Southerland. Wintrow took the lead on lap four with an inside move on Dovel coming off the fourth corner. Southerland took the lead on lap 10 with an inside pass of Wintrow entering turn three and started to pull away from the field. But in the closing laps Southerland’s car visibly slowed and Wintrow started to close the gap. At the checkered flag Southerland won by .204-seconds following by three Buckeye State drivers Wintrow, Alec Young and Dovel. “I don’t know what was happening at the finish,” Southerland said in the Riley & Son Victory Lane. “I don’t know if it was a (computer) chip or a problem with the transmission. “I was hanging on at the finish,” he said.
