In what is becoming a familiar pattern this season in Noble Wine & Spirit ThunderCar action, the top drivers are staging a spirited battle. Ronnie Rose scored his second consecutive feature win in a race that saw three different drivers on the point and not determined until the closing stages of the race. Ron Phipps took the early lead in a side-by-side battle with Mike Phipps who grabbed the lead on the second circuit. Rose and Jimmy Kirby moved into the top five after just five circuits as the front runners continued to run in a pack for position. The first caution flag waved on lap 12 when Ricky Craig spun on the back straight which allowed Rose to take the lead on the restart. Kirby was running second after 15 laps and stayed glued to Rose’s rear bumper. Rose maintained the lead following a second restart on lap 28 and the outcome was determined on lap 31 when Kirby’s car went up in a puff of smoke. David McConnell, Mike Phipps, Ron Phipps and Craig rounded out the top five.
