Rose Powers to ThunderCar Victory

Anderson’s Ronnie Rose posted the fast time during qualifying and then had to drive from the eighth starting position to claim his second Noble Wine & Spirits ThunderCar victory. Randy Owen took the early lead aided by the 8-car inversion chased by returning competitor Andrew Cook and visiting Ohio driver Scott Drake. Drake grabbed the second spot from Cook on lap 9 with an inside pass on the front straight. The top three in the running order remained unchanged as Rose started to work his way to the front. Rose passed David McConnell on lap 13 and Cook on lap 14 to be running in the third spot. Drake took the lead from Owen on lap 18 and Rose followed. On lap 21 Rose got inside of Drake on the back straight to take the point and record the win. Drake came home in second followed by Ron Phipps, Cook and McConnell. “I was taking my time early,” Rose said in the Riley & Son Victory Lane. “I knew I had a fast car, I was trying to be patient.”
