Poore opens Modified season with win; Visiting Canadian claims Legends feature

ANDERSON – Josh Poore is no stranger to victory lane at Anderson Speedway having won many features in a Street Stock, this past weekend he added a win in a Modified.

After several weather related cancellations the Modified and Beaver Contracting Legends competed for the first-time in 2025 and the result was races not decided until the final lap.

Poore making his first start in a Modified broke the track record during qualifying with a lap of 12.549-seconds, one of five drivers under the old mark set by Jacob Owens in 2024.

With double points on the line, Poore and Tyler DeHart started on the front row.

Poore jumped into the lead and for all 40 laps was pressed by Dalton Connor, who scored three Modified wins at Anderson in 2024.

Connor looked both high and low in an effort to get around Poore as two leaders pulled away from the field.

Defending driver champion Owens retired on lap 3 with a mechanical problem and car owner champion from a year ago Nathan Greene’s night ended against the turn three wall on lap 22.

Poore went on to win by a second after Connor bounced off the back straight wall with one lap remaining. Ohio driver Wayne Chinn came home in third followed by Tyler DeHart and Joe Beaver.

“It’s a good start to the season,” Poore said after the victory, “and it’s double points.”

Two visiting drivers quickly found their way around Anderson Speedway in the Beaver Construction Legends division.

South Carolina driver Zach Miller set fast-time and Canadian Danny Chisholm posted the second best time in a car owned by Miller.

Miller and Chisholm jumped into the lead at the start and pulling away from Xavier King.

Chisolm passed Miller on lap 24 in lapped traffic, but the caution flag waved for a spin by Connor Locke on the back straight.

Chisholm passed Miller, during a green-white-check finish with an outside pass coming off the second corner..

King of Anderson came home third followed by Johnny Weaver and Dalton Connor.
