Four divisions kick-off delayed season opener at Anderson
Anderson Speedway officials are hopeful that the third time will be the charm to kick-off the 2025 racing season.
Mother Nature has washed out the first two weekends of racing but track officials are looking forward to the Meldon HVAC Spring Breeze Showdown this Saturday.
Topping the racing card is the local Late Model division in a tune-up for the first visit by the Champion Racing Association Sportsman Late Models on April 26.
Morristown veteran driver Jeff Marcum captured his seventh track championship in 2024 scoring three wins but faced a strong challenge from JP Crabtree, a one-time race winner. Fort Wayne’s Tommy Cook scored a victory last year.
The Vores Welding & Steel Street Stocks saw five different drivers record victories, with no driver scoring two wins in the division.
Anderson’s Andrew Cook won his first track championship a year ago.
Cook, Jimmy Kirby, Josh Poore, Xavier King and Ricky Craig all scored feature wins in 2024 in tight racing all season long.
Anderson’s Josh Ebbert was crowned the champion of the Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drive division in a tight points battle with Austin Pursley.
Ebbert scored three wins and Pursley visited the winner’s circle twice. Other winners were Nick Warner and Dylan Hoppes.
The Knapp Supply Ford Division will be competing in a Figure-8 event where veteran drivers Curtis Champman and Michael Phipps scored wins in 2024.
Qualifying is set for 4:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for kids age 6-12, and free for all kids 5 and under.
