ANDERSON – Several drivers will be looking to add their name to the impressive list of competitors that have captured the Redbud 400 this weekend.
Anderson Speedway is hosting the 58th running of the Redbud 400, one of the premier super late model races in the country.
Cole Butcher, only the second Canadian to win the race, will be looking to make it back-to-back victories.
A year ago, Butcher used tire strategy to record the win with Gio Ruggerio coming home in second.
Ruggerio is entered and hoping to improve by one position.
Two years ago Sammy Smith dominated the event with Florida driver Stephen Nasse coming home in fourth. Nasse finished third in the 2020 race won by Kyle Crump.
Crump won that race with a bump and run move in the closing laps relegating Austin Nason to a fifth place finish.
Nason is entered along with Georgia star Bubba Pollard, ASA Stars National Tour point leader Casey Roderick and Cody Coughlin.
Coughlin earlier this year won the JEGS All Stars Tour race at Anderson Speedway.
Local drivers looking for the win include Avon’s Scotty Tomasik, who finished seventh in 2022; Dakota Armstrong, Billy VanMeter and Muncie’s JP Crabtree.
Qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $20 for adults in advance and $25 on race day, $10 for kids age 6-12, and free for all kids 5 and under.
