ARCA/CRA Super Series Kicks Off 26th Points Season Sunday at Anderson Speedway

Salem, IN (April 6, 2022) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS is set to kick off its 26th season of competition Presented by Team Construction this Sunday in the $5,000 to win Mitch Smith Auto Service 125 Presented by Perfecto Tool at Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, Indiana. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 9th, but track officials moved the event to Sunday because of a forecast of cold temps and snow showers on Saturday.

Anderson Speedway is where the CRA and the series had its first ever event on Saturday, April 26, 1997, where two time series Champion Brian Ross scored the inaugural series win against a stacked field of drivers that included Gary St. Amant, Brian Rievley, Bill Baird, Jim Cooper, Rick Rhonemus, Rick Turner, Don Bickford, Bobby Blount, Kenny Tweedy, JR Roahrig, Bull Baker, Scott Neal, Jim Crabtree Jr. and Ray Skillman.

The April 10th event is the first points event in the ARCA/CRA Super Series Team Construction 26th season of competition and the first event of the Team Construction 26th Season Attendance Bonuses, which will award a $1,000 cash bonus by random draw after the series fourth points event of the season from the drivers that attended all four of the first four events.

As part of its sponsorship of the 26th Season, Team Construction will award the 2022 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion with a $2,000 cash bonus, that will be over and above the normal points payoff by CRA and the 2022 series Rookie of the Year with a $1,000 cash bonus.

Topping the list of entries for Saturday’s Mitch Smith Auto Service 125 Presented by Perfecto Tool is defending series Champion Hunter Jack, who is looking to defend his Championship in 2022. Jack has  JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour victory at Anderson Speedway but is still looking for his first ARCA/CRA Super Series win.

2016 series Champion Cody Coughlin is also entered, he was a two-time series winner at Anderson Speedway during the 2020 season and got his fourth JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship in 2022.

Other top series contenders who are entered for Sunday’s event include 2021 Redbud 400 winner Kyle Crump, 2016 Redbud 400 winner and former JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Driver Champion Dalton Armstrong, series 2021 Chase for the Championship contender Scotty Tomasik, former Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Champion Eddie Van Meter and his son Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event winner Billy Van Meter, multi-time Anderson Speedway Late Model Champion Jeff Marcum, Jennerstown Speedway feature winner Albert Francis, 2020 series Rookie of the Year Jaren Crabtree and his brother J.P. Crabtree a two-time feature winner with the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman.

There are four Team Construction Rookie of the Year competitors entered for Sunday’s event including Oregon native Austin Thom, who raced in last season’s Redbud 400, 2021 Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Winchester event winner Cassten Everidge, former Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman competitor Neal McClelland and Florida native Rocky Samson.

Pit gates open at 10:00am on Sunday. Practice will begin at 12:30pm with Francis Engineering qualifying starting at about 3:30pm. The race program will begin at 4pm and will include the Mitch Smith Auto Service 125 Presented by Perfecto Tool for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Also racing on Sunday will be Kenyon Midgets,  and the Anderson Speedway Crown Vic’s and ThunderCars.
