Anderson Speedway Suffers Another Great Loss

Action Entertainment and the staff of Anderson Speedway were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of long time racer, employee and icon of Anderson Speedway “Fast” Freddie Jones on Friday, September 17, 2021. Freddie was a racer for around 25 years of his career at the track before becoming an official. His love for racing made him a fixture on Saturday nights as Chief Steward. Getting the cars in proper alignment on the track sometimes proved to be a challenge. If the drivers didn’t respond to Freddie’s directions, Freddie would get their undivided attention with some of his colorful antics, much to the delight of the large crowds! Freddie later on became the “man on the gate”, guarding the pit gate entrance. Go past Freddie without a pit pass…not on your life!  Fred Jones was a gentle, loving, kind man with a big smile for everyone and a gentle laugh. We will definitely miss Fast Freddie! His love for racing rubbed off on his family as his daughter Sandy has been the Anderson scorer over four decades sometimes assisted by his granddaughters.  Our sympathy is extended to the entire Jones family. Farewell Friend.
