Anderson Speedway Announces Little 500 Non-Qualifiers Race

Anderson, IN – May 9, 2018 – Anderson Speedway officials today announced an additional event as part of the 70th Pay Less Little 500 presented by UAW-GM.

With the large number of cars expected for this year’s event, Anderson Speedway officials have unveiled plans to feature a non-qualifiers race on Friday night May 25, following Parallax Power Supply “Bump Day” activities. The 40-lap feature event will be open to all Pay Less Little 500 presented by UAW-GM competitors who fail to qualify for the race.

A non-qualifiers race as part of Pay Less Little 500 presented by UAW-GM week is not a new concept. The idea was first introduced by Action Entertainment, Inc. CEO Rick Dawson from 2001-02. Michigan driver Jason Blonde and Utah driver Rick Pardee captured feature victories when the concept was first introduced.

This year’s revival of the non-qualifiers event will pay $500 to win and will highlight the nights racing action that will also feature: Thunder Roadsters, Midwest Vintage Oldtimers Car Club Exhibition, and the 75 lap USSA Midget “Don and Mel Kenyon Classic”.

The intent of the non-qualifiers race is to make sure competitors who do not make the race get competitive track time. In addition, teams will be able to use tires already purchased and have an opportunity to rebound from the disappointment of failing to make the race.
