Crabtree, Amonett Score Redbud 400 Wins
Anderson, Indiana – Two Indiana drivers put their names in the record books Saturday night as winners of the 60th running of the CB Fabricating Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway.
Under the new format implemented for this year’s event, the Vern’s Concrete Late Models and Vore’s Welding & Steel Street Stocks each competed in 200-lap features.
Crabtree Charges to Late Model Victory
Muncie driver JP Crabtree took advantage of a three-way battle for the lead in the Vern’s Concrete Late Model feature to take command on lap 159.
With Casten Everidge and Jack Dossey III exchanging paint while battling for the lead, the two drivers pushed up the track in Turn 4. Crabtree was able to drive underneath both cars and take control of the race.
From there, Crabtree pulled away to score the biggest victory of his career, taking the checkered flag ahead of Terry Fisher Jr. and Dossey.
Hunter Jack led the field to the green flag from the outside of the front row, with Jake Hinton and Dossey in pursuit.
Hinton took the lead on lap seven with an outside pass of Jack and remained out front until a restart on lap 38.
Jack regained the lead and held the top spot through the halfway point before a pit road violation relegated him to the rear of the field for the restart.
Everidge inherited the lead and remained at the front until Dossey made his move on lap 145, setting up the three-car battle that ultimately allowed Crabtree to charge into the lead and race to victory.
Amonett Takes Street Stock Checkered Flag
Ryan Amonett inherited the lead late in the Vore’s Welding & Steel Street Stock 200 and held on to score the victory.
Amonett started fifth and quickly moved into third behind early leader Josh Poore and Brett Hudson.
Following the halfway break, mechanical issues struck Poore’s car, forcing him to surrender the lead to Hudson on lap 136. Amonett moved into the second position one lap later.
Hudson’s strong run came to an end on lap 180 when he was relegated to the rear of the field after making contact with Ricky Tharp II, handing the lead to Amonett.
Amonett held off James Kirby III and Ayden Oliver on the restart and then maintained the lead through two more restarts during the final six laps.
Joe Muldoon moved into second late in the race before Kirby and Andrew Teepe both advanced past him in the closing laps.
At the checkered flag, Amonett secured the win by 0.677 seconds over Kirby. Teepe finished third, followed by Andrew Cook and Muldoon to round out the top five.
The victories by Crabtree and Amonett added two new names to the history of one of Anderson Speedway’s biggest events as the CB Fabricating Redbud 400 celebrated its 60th running.
