ANDERSON – Anderson Speedway will be hosting unique racing events this Saturday during the popular Night of Thrills.
Speedway officials have added a new concept to the Night of Thrills with the first ever “Switchback” race.
Competitors will start the race driving in reverse around the high-banked oval and after three laps will turn their cars in the right direction for the final three laps.
It’s possible at the mid-point of the race that some drivers will still be driving in reverse as others are competing in the normal fashion.
The Grocery Getters Enduro returns for a 20-minute timed event with $1,000 going to the winner. Last year a total of 35 drivers competed with Clayton Rhoton emerging as the winner completing 63 circuits.
Drivers will be competing in the corkscrew race where they will have to make a lap around a pole in the center of the Figure-8 course and continue to complete a lap.
The roll-over contest returns to the program along with the Trailer Race on the Figure-8 circuit. Last year there were enough trailers for two events with Michael Phipps and Francisco Sanitago Jr. emerging at the winners.
Racing at 7 p.m. Adult tickets are $20, $5 for children 6 to 12 years old and free under five.
