Who will add their name to Redbud 400 history?

ANDERSON — Several drivers will be looking to add their name to the impressive list of competitors who have captured the CB Fabricating Redbud 400 this weekend.

Anderson Speedway is hosting the 59th running of the Redbud 400 on Saturday, one of the premier super late model races in the country.

The Redbud 400 is one of two top super model races to take place in the Hoosier State along with the Winchester 400 in October.

NASCAR competitor Ross Chastain will serve as grand marshal for the event.

Kyle Steckly, only the third Canadian to win the race, will be looking to make it back-to-back victories.

The last driver to win consecutive races was Dick Trickle in 1987 and 1988. Others who accomplished the feat include Jim Blount, Bob Senneker and Mark Martin.

Top drivers entered include former race winner and NASCAR Cup driver Carson Hocevar, former winner Cole Butcher along with several other drivers looking for that elusive victory including Bubba Pollard, Stephen Nasse, Austin Nason, Chase Burda and Chase Pinsonneult.

Indiana drivers entered include Dakoda Armstrong, Billy VanMeter and Ryder VanAlst. Armstrong is a regular with the 500 Sprint Car Tour and VanAlst is coming off a third place finish in the Madison County 200.

VanMeter is a regular on the ASA circuit.

Qualifying is set for 6 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m.

There is an on-track autograph session set for 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 for adults ; $10 for kids age 6 to 12 and free for all kids 5 and under.
