Anderson, Indiana: Action Entertainment Inc. has released the 2023 racing schedule for Anderson Speedway to celebrate the 76th season of racing at the high-banked quarter-mile oval.
The 75th Annual Lucas Oil Little 500 presented by UAW will headline the season on Saturday, May 27th. The Diamond Anniversary Little 500 will once again boast a starting field of eleven rows of three with the best sprint cars drivers in the country. Tyler Roahrig will look to capture his third consecutive Little 500 victory after going to victory lane in 2021 and 2022.
The Little 500 will be one of four events for the 500 Sprint Car Tour at Anderson Speedway. The non-wing sprint car series will make their first trip to Anderson on April 8th for the 23rd running of the Glen Niebel Classic. The 75-lap feature will be used as a tune up race for the 75th Annual Lucas Oil Little 500 presented by UAW. The second annual Gene Nolen Classic (100 laps) will be run on Saturday, July 8th, and the eighth Annual Tony Elliott Classic (100 laps) will return to its familiar Fall slot, running on October 7th.
The 57th Annual Greg Hubler Automotive Group Redbud 400 will return to Anderson on Saturday, July 15th. The race will feature Super Series Late Models competing in a 400-lap event with pit stop action. Toyota Racing Development driver Sammy Smith piloted his way to victory lane in 2022 to capture the 56th Annual Redbud 400. The ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models will compete in a 125-lap feature on Saturday, April 29th as a tune up for the Redbud 400.
Another staple on the Anderson Speedway calendar returns with the 74th Annual National Crown race on July 22nd. The race, which is the longest continuous stock car race in America, will once again feature the Vintage Wrench Ford Division Figure 8. Rickie Tharp drove to victory in an exciting 73rd Annual National Crown in July of 2022.
Fan favorite events will return to Anderson Speedway with the 4th of July Figure 8 Madness on Tuesday, July 4th, and Night of Thrills on Saturday, September 2nd. Both events will see amazing figure 8 racing including the Vintage Wrench Ford Division, Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drives, School Bus figure 8’s, and the Prairie Farms Trailer Races. Not to mention an amazing firework display following racing action on July 4th.
SIx local divisions will be highlighted throughout the season at Anderson Speedway. McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models, Noble Wine & Spirits Thundercars, Marcum’s Welding Front Wheel Drives, Vintage Wrench Ford Pro and Rookie Division, and Thunder Roadsters. Some events to look forward to will be the 74th Annual National Crown race with the Vintage Wrench Ford Division, the Thundercar 100 on April 22nd featuring the Noble Wine & Spirits Thundercars, and two 75-lap features with the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models.
Several touring series will make visits to Anderson Speedway including ARCA/CRA Super Series Late Models, CRA VORES Welding & Steel Late Model Sportsman, CRA Van Hoy Oil Street Stocks, USSA Kenyon Midgets, VORES Compact Touring Series, Midwest Modified Tour, and Ohio Wheelman Series.
Long distance street stock races have been a mainstay at Anderson Speedway for the past decade. In 2023 two 150 CRA Street Stock races will make their way onto the schedule (June 24 and August 12).
New to the schedule for 2023 will be the addition of the Ohio Wheelman Series on Saturday, May 13th, the return of the Midwest Modified Tour on Saturday, July 29th, and the Madison County 200 on Saturday August 5th. The Madison County 200 will be a 200-lap CRA Late Model Sportsman event to commemorate the 200 year anniversary of Madison County. The event will be a part of a year-long celebration with the help of the Madison County Bicentennial Committee.
The VORES Compact Touring Series will make three visits to Anderson Speedway in 2023. The series will be paired with the CRA Van Hoy Oil Street Stocks for all three events on April 15th, August 12th, and September 16th. Their third, and final, contest on September 16th will be a 100-lap feature.
For the month of December, Anderson Speedway is offering special ticket packages that include a 10 pack for $100 and a 20 pack for $200.
