Salem, IN (August 10, 2021) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will continue their 2021 season with the running of the Tom Wood Honda 100 this Saturday at Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, IN. Saturday’s Tom Wood Honda 100 will be the second of three series events at Anderson Speedway during the 2021 season. Saturday’s Tom Wood Honda 100 is the longest event of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman at 100 laps and will be the highest paying series event of the season with the winner taking home $2,000.
Jeff Marcum picked up the win in the series 2021 season opener at Anderson Speedway on April 17th, leading 74 laps of the 75-lap event. Austin Coe picked up his first series win of the 2021 season at the series second event at Mt. Lawn Speedway on May 23rd, holding off a hard charging Billy Hutson to get the close win. Cassten Everidge picked up his first ever series win in the series third event of the season on June 5th at Winchester Speedway and is now locked into the series 2021 Chase for the Championship. Defending series Champion Billy Hutson picked up the win in the series last event at Angola Motor Speedway on July 10th and is now locked into the series 2021 Chase for the Championship.
Everidge and Hutson are locked in a tight battle for the series Regular Season Championship with Everidge leading Hutson in the series regular season points by just two points heading into Saturday’s event. Series leading rookie Kyle Worley is in third place, he is 41 points behind Hutson. J.P. Crabtree is in fourth place with Ronnie Rose in fifth place. Saturday’s event is the series last event before it’s 2021 Chase for the Championship begins at the scheduled Labor Day Weekend event at Winchester Speedway.
Saturday’s Tom Wood Honda 100 will pit the series regular competitors against the Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models. Marcum currently leads the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models points standings and got the win in the series last event this past Saturday night at Anderson, his fourth feature win of the season. Buddy Davis is now in second place in those points followed by Mike Sargent in third place.
There will be an optional open practice at Anderson Speedway this Friday, pits open at 3:30pm, with open practice from 4:30 to 7:30pm. On Saturday, pit gates open at 1:30pm. Practice will begin at 4pm with qualifying beginning at 6pm. The race program is set to begin at 7:30pm and will include the Tom Wood Honda 100 for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. Also racing that night will be the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks in the Four Crown Mini-Series 150 lap Championship event, the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models and the Midwest Champ Karts.
