Spring Championships Slated for Saturday

(May 18, 2011) – Anderson Speedway returns to action on Saturday, May 21 with Spring Championships taking center stage. Featured divisions include Late Models, EDCO Welding Street Stocks, Figure 8’s along with Front Wheel Drives on the Oval and Figure 8.

In the Late Model point standings, Terry Cater holds a 91 point advantage over Randy Hoppes with William Mefford listed in third position. The remainder of the top five includes Brandon Mefford and Bret Miles Jr.

Josh Poore has continued his dominance in the EDCO Welding Street Stocks with grabbing the top spot in the point standings after winning early season events. Josh Myers ranks second, just 11 points from the lead. Third is Randy Hoppes with Jacob McElfresh and Rob Allman filling out the top five.

Curtis Chapman sits atop the early season Figure 8 point standings after capturing the opening two feature victories. Nick Warner ranks second, just six markers from the points lead. James Peterson is third with Bruce McFall and Josh Tharp completing the top five.

In the Front Wheel Drive Oval division, Jeff Williams leads the pack after scoring two victories to start the 2011 season. Ron Phipps is ranked second with Jamie Williams, Kevin Henson and Marshall Clark rounding out the top five.

Chris Teepe is pacing the Front Wheel Drive Figure 8 point standings after earning some early season victories. Veteran Bruce McFall ranks second with Kevin Henson ranked in third position. Elliott McKinney and Trevin Henson complete the top five.

On Saturday, May 21, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
