Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks and ImmediaDent Figure 8's on Saturday Night

Racing action returns to Anderson Speedway on Saturday, August 8 with appearances from the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stock and ImmediaDent Figure 8’s.

This will be the second event of the season at Anderson Speedway for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series. The series opened its 2009 season at Anderson on April 18th were Charlie Hanna led all 75 laps in getting the win over Steve Stacy and Ric Pfiefer. Steve Minich Jr., comes into Saturday’s event as the series points leader and has won a series leading three events so far this season including the series last event on July 25th at Plymouth Speedway. Minich Jr. also picked up wins at Baer Field Speedway and at Angola Motor Speedway.

Hanna is currently in second place in series points, only 15 points behind Minich Jr. Leading series rookie competitor Steve Stacy is third in points, 50 points behind Hanna. Former series Champion Keith Sterkowitz is fourth in points, 16 points behind Stacy. Ric Pfiefer is fifth in points, 28 points behind Sterkowitz. Former Anderson Champions Joe Beaver and Jake Owens are both looking to return to series action at Anderson after having to miss races with engine problems.

The CRA Street Stocks will make its second appearance of the season at Anderson Speedway on Saturday battling the best drivers in the Anderson Street Stock Division. The series had it’s biggest race of the season, a 300 lapper, at Anderson on June 27th were veteran Central Indiana racer Scott Neal led all 300 laps to get a hard fought victory over Beau Mitchell and Joe Beaver. Jason Thompson finished fourth in that race followed by Brian Hopkins in fifth place.

Two-time series Driver Champion Beaver comes into Saturday’s event as the series current points leader, but has not gotten a victory yet this season. Thompson is 19 points behind in second, he got a dominating series win at Mt. Lawn Speedway on June 10th. Josh Burton is in third place in series points, just three points behind Thompson. Burton picked up a win in the series season opener at Winchester Speedway. Multi-time Anderson Street Stock Champion Rich Boyer is fourth in series points, 18 points behind Burton. 2008 series Champion Bret Miles Jr. is fifth in series points, he is only two points behind Boyer heading into Saturday’s event. Robbie Henderson got his first ever series victory in the series last event at Plymouth Speedway on July 12th.

Bret Miles Sr. comes into Saturday’s event as the point’s leader in the Anderson Street Stock Division, he has an 84 point lead over Rob Allman in second. Boyer is third in Anderson Street Stock points, only three points behind Allman. Randy Hoppes is fourth in Anderson points with Kyle Flynn in fifth place.

The ImmediaDent Figure 8’s continues to feature a close points battle with Mike Riddle Jr. holding a 10 point lead over Jeff Swinford. Third in the standings is Rick Tharp with Johnny Magee and Josh Tharp completing the top five.

On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the racing beginning at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free.
