Regular Divisions Return on Saturday Night
After several weeks of special events at Anderson Speedway, the regular Saturday
night divisions return to the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval on Saturday, May
9. Featured this weekend include ImmediaDent Figure 8’s, Street Stocks,
ThunderCars and Front Wheel Drives Oval.
In the ImmediaDent Figure 8’s, former division champion Mike Riddle Jr. sits
atop the season point standings and is the most recent feature winner. Other
drivers that are in contention in the early portion of the season include Ricky
Tharp, Ronnie Phipps Sr., Jeff Swinford and ThunderCar Enduro winner Johnny
Magee.
Former track champion Bret Miles paces the Street Stock point standings after
scoring an opening night victory on April 4. Second in the standings is Rich
Boyer with Kyle ranking in third position. The remainder of the top five
includes veteran racers Joe Beaver and Danny Acrey ll.
Rod Phipps ranks first in the ThunderCar standings with a15 point cushion over
Rob Allman. Third is Terry Malone Jr. with Johnny Magee and Lonnie Burton also
beginning the 2009 season on a strong note.
In the Front Wheel Drive Oval division, Kevin Harmon and Jeff Saxon continue to
battle for the top spot in the point standings. Other top performers include
Andy Keller, Eric Shell and Ron Phipps.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with the first race taking the
green flag at 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children
five and under get in free.
