Broyles, Boyer and Chapman Honored at The Star Press Saturday Night Racing Series Banquet

Anderson Speedway held The Star Press Saturday Night Racing Series Awards Banquet at Anderson’s Day’s Inn on Friday, November 18, honoring the divisions of Ed Martin Auto Group Super Trucks, Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stocks and Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s.

New Castle’s Tony Broyles was crowned Ed Martin Auto Group Super Truck driver champion and his owner Terry Broyles grabbed the owner championship hardware. Broyles drove the family owned No. 27 Scooter’s Bar & Grill Super Truck to one feature win, six fast times, 14 top-five finishes and 16 top 10s.

Special Award winners in Ed Martin Auto Group Super Trucks were presented to Josh Poore for DT’S R Bar Rookie of the Year, Andrew Brown for the Rocky Tharp Memorial Sportsmanship and Scott Brooks for Dedication.

Tony Broyles was the 2005 Contingency Connection Hurst and Mallory Cup Team Sponsorship winner. He receives a $500 product certificate along with a series cup trophy, championship racing jacket and additional awards from Mr. Gasket valued at $2,500. Broyles was also presented a certificate for a complete ARP A Package Kit valued at $1,300. Robert Kovach, owner of the No. 91 SuperTruck, received a $500 certificate with Bob Lemen getting a 50 percent discount on a Five Star A Package Body.

Rich Boyer earned a third consecutive Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stock title. The Anderson racer recorded 17 feature checkered flags plus a post-season victory in the 8th Annual Weidner Chevrolet Stock Car Festival. Boyer also drove the Russell Racing entry to 15 fast times and 21 top-five finishes en route to the 2005 championship.

Special Award winners in Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stocks were presented to Ryan Buckner for DT’S R Bar Rookie of the Year, Curtis Chapman for the Rocky Tharp Memorial Sportsmanship and Ryan Buckner for Dedication.

Additional awards included Boyer claiming an ARP certificate of $250. ARP certificates were also claimed by Ryan Buckner and Kyle Flynn. The Five Star award went to Dave Hacker. Bruce McFall was voted as 2005 JE Pro Seal Ringers Sportsman of the Year through the Contingency Connection program. He received a package valued at $1,000.

Anderson’s Curtis Chapman and owner Shelley Worley earned the Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8 championship. Driving the No. 8 Chapman Construction car, Chapman collected two feature victories, two fast times and 16 top-five finishes.

Special Award winners in Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s were Ranny Hinton for DT’S R Bar Rookie of the Year, Rod Phipps for the Rocky Tharp Memorial Sportsmanship and Hacker Racing for Dedication.

Additional awards included Chapman getting an ARP certificate of $250. ARP certificates were also presented to Ranny Hinton and Darren Hacker. The Five Star award went to Mike Wood.
