Anderson Speedway concluded the MAX/WLBC Friday Summer Series point season with an exciting lineup of Legends, Insight ThunderCars in Oval and Figure 8 racing along with Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive on the Oval and Figure 8.

In Legends action, Albany’s Daniel Russell dominated the 35-lap season championship and scored the division championship. Russell was challenged in the early stages by Elwood’s John Robbins, who was battling Russell for the title. At the finish, Russell was chased by Robbins with last week’s winner Scott McGinley in third position. Eric Black and T.J. Sneva rounded out the top-five finishers.

Russell earned top qualifying honors with a lap of 14. 074 seconds. In preliminary action, Scott McGinley and Paul Holden scored heat race victories.

Anderson’s Josh Myers recorded his first season victory in the 30-lap Insight ThunderCar Oval feature. Billy Riddle entered the finale as the point leader and soared into the first position at the drop of the green flag. He paced the opening 13 circuits and was then eliminated from racing action on the 13th lap when Sammy Hawkins made contact with Riddle, forcing him into the outside retaining wall.

That handed the lead to Myers, who never looked back and went on to claim the feature victory. Brandon Phillips crossed the finish line in second spot and unofficially won the championship. Third at the finish was William Coffman with David Short and Roy Grissom Sr. filling out the top five.

Paris Swallows Jr. recorded the fastest qualifying lap with an official clocking of 15.451 seconds. Myers and Jeff Eytchison won heat races.

James Peterson scored his first season victory in the Insight ThunderCar Figure 8’s after Billy Riddle was disqualified. Paris Swallows Jr. grabbed the lead at the start and paced the opening 15 circuits. He was eliminated from racing action on the 15th lap after a multi-car crash in the cross-over. That handed the lead to Riddle, who finished ahead of Peterson, Terry Malone Jr., Tim Nickerson and Swallows. Riddle was then disqualified following technical inspection.

In the season championship for the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval, Brad Stevens continued his superb season, grabbing the feature win over his teammate Dustin Burge, who grabbed the championship.

Nick Warner led the first lap with Dustin Burge up from laps two through 10. Stevens made the race-winning pass on the 11th go-around. Burge placed second with Warner, David Baker and Sam Folsom filling out the top five.

In preliminary action, Keith Morris and Allen Wagner recorded heat race victories. Dustin Burge was the top qualifier at 15.970 seconds.

In the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s, Travis Burge wrapped up his season with another victory. He drove around Nick Warner on the 10th of 15 laps and then went on to visit the Texas Roadhouse Winner’s Circle. Warner placed second and earned the championship. Third was Keith Morris with David Baker and Randy Owen filling out the top five.
