Benson Motorcycles Night of
Thrills Set for Saturday

Anderson Speedway returns to racing action with the Burkhart Advertising Signs
of Winning. On Friday, August 26, the MAX/WLBC Friday Night Summer Series will
feature Limited Late Models, Insight ThunderCars in Oval and Figure 8 racing
along with Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 action.
On Saturday, August 27, The Star Press Saturday Night Series showcases the
Benson Motorcycles Night of Thrills. Featured events include School Bus Figure
8’s, Roll Over Contest, Spectator races along with appearances from the Terry’s
RV Sales & Service Street Stocks and Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s.
On Friday Night, spectator gates open
at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 8. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids
ages 6-12. Children five and under get in free. Watch the NASCAR race on our big
screen.

In
four Limited Late Model events this season, three competitors have visited the
Texas Roadhouse Winner’s Circle. Jon Conklin and Mike Coates recorded feature
victories in June with Todd Marsh grabbing the winning hardware in the two
previous races on the world’s fastest quarter-mile oval.
Alexandria’s
Alice Riall continues to pace the Insight ThunderCar Oval division after
recording her second feature victory on Friday, August 19. She holds a 39 point
advantage on Billy Riddle. Third in the rundown is Brandon Phillips with Roy
Grissom Sr. and William Coffman completing the top five.
The
Insight ThunderCar Figure 8’s point championship between Terry Malone Jr. and
Paris Swallows Jr. has tightened up. After 18 events, Malone holds a 15 point
margin on Swallows. Third is Billy Riddle with Roy Grissom Sr. and Robert
Brumback filling out the top five.
Dustin
Burge leads the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval division with a 70
point lead on Sam Folsom. Burge has collected 16 top-five finishes while Folsom
has 18 top 10s on his resume. Third is Nick Warner with Brad Stevens fourth and
Travis Erhart fifth.
In
the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s, Nick Warner holds 170
point lead on Randy Owen. Third is Allen Wagner with most recent winner Travis
Burge fourth and Chris Teepe rounding out the top five.
The School Bus Figure 8’s return on Saturday Night, always one of the most
entertaining races of the season at Anderson Speedway. Slams, hits, pushes and
scrapping off walls and believe it or not, three-wide racing are showcased in
this race.
The
always popular Roll-Over Contest will also be part of the activities this
weekend. Drivers get as many as three tries at rolling their car over with one
point for each side that hits the ground.
Spectator Races will also entertain the fans during the Benson Motorcycles Night
of Thrills. Fans with a pit pass and proper safety equipment are allowed to
bring their street cars and go one-on-one against another fan in Spectator
Races.
Anderson’s
Rich Boyer inched closer to his third consecutive Terry’s RV Sales & Service
Street Stock championship after winning his 13th feature of the season last
weekend. Boyer has a 471 point lead on Rod Phipps. The remainder of the top five
includes former division champion Danny Acrey ll, DT’S R Bar Rookie Ryan Buckner
and Elwood’s Bruce McFall.
Curtis
Chapman surged to the second largest point’s lead in the Boss Hogg Catering &
Jerky Figure 8 division after Mike Riddle Jr. dropped out of last weekend’s
feature in the later stages. Chapman has a 111 point lead on Riddle. Third is
Jeff Swinford with Michael Phipps and Ronnie Phipps completing the top five.
