Hogg Wild Fun Weekend Set for June 17-18

Speedway returns to racing on Friday, June 17, with the Boss Hogg Pitt BBQ &
Catering Hogg Wild Fun Weekend. The MAX/WLBC Friday Night Summer Series will
feature Legends, Insight ThunderCars in Oval and Figure 8 action and Chappy’s
Rent to Own Front Wheel Drives on the Oval and Figure 8.
On Saturday Night, June 18, The Star Press Saturday Night Series will showcase
Ed Martin Auto Group SuperTrucks, Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stocks and
Boss Hogg Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s.
Albany’s
Daniel Russell has dominated the Legends season, recording victories in each of
the opening five events. He holds a 145 point lead in the point standings over
T.J. Sneva. Third in the standings is John Robbins with Scott McGinley and Eric
Black rounding out the top five.
Consistent finishes have placed Roy Grissom Sr. atop the Insight ThunderCar Oval
division. He has constructed an 18 point advantage on Brandon Phillips, who has
collected three top-five finishes. Third in the points rundown is Lonny Burton
with Alice Riall ranking fourth and Billy Riddle completing the top five.
Paris
Swallows Jr. has begun the Insight ThunderCar Figure 8 season with five
consecutive top-five performances and leads Mike Peters by 31 markers. Third is
Terry Malone Jr., who has scored two feature victories and seven top 10s. Robert
Brumback and Roy Grissom Sr. round out the top five in the point standings.
A
clean weekend sweep in the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Oval division
advanced Sam Folsom to first position in the point standings. Kreigh Leever is
second with two feature victories and trails Folsom by 26 markers. The remainder
of the top five include new track record holder Dustin Burge, Kevin Harmon and
Nick Warner.
In the Chappy’s Rent to Own Front Wheel Drive Figure 8’s, Warner continues to
dominate with capturing five feature wins in seven events. He leads Allen Wagner
by 135 points with Randy Owen in third spot. Two feature checkered flags have
placed Chris Teepe fourth with Travis Burge rounding out the top five.
On Friday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 8.
Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 6-12. Children five and under
get in free.
New
Castle’s Tony Broyles has began the Ed Martin Auto Group SuperTruck season on a
superb note, collecting six consecutive top-five finishes and building a 318
point lead. After winning his second feature, defending champion Josh Burton
advanced to second spot. Mendenhall is third with three top-five finishes and
six top 10s. Indianapolis drivers Robert Lemen and Scott Brooks complete the top
five.
Two-time
defending Terry’s RV Sales & Service Street Stock champion Rich Boyer extended
his point lead to 205 markers after earning fast time, winning the heat race and
claiming a dramatic victory in the feature on June 11. Rod Phipps is second with
seven top-five finishes after eight events. Curtis Chapman is third with Danny
Acrey ll and Bruce McFall completing the top five.
Visiting
the Texas Roadhouse Winner’s Circle for the first occasion this season, Curtis
Chapman narrowed the gap on Jeff Swinford for first position in the Boss Hogg
Catering & Jerky Figure 8’s. Swinford leads Chapman by 47 markers. Third is
Michael Phipps with Josh Tharp and car normally driven by Ronnie Phipps rounding
out the top five. Close competition continues as third through seventh positions
are separated by just 38 markers.
On Saturday Night, spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with racing beginning at 8.
